Dayton Children’s Hospital is a 181-bed (soon to be 220 beds with opening of a free-standing Mathile Center for Health and Wellbeing), Level 1 Trauma Center, Magnet certified free-standing tertiary care facility serving a 20-county area in southwest Ohio and eastern Indiana, and is academically affiliated with Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Our physicians hold faculty appointments at the Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dayton Children’s has a medical staff of over 250 specialty physicians representing forty-three medical and surgical divisions. Annually, Dayton Children’s cares for 101,675 ED visits, 560,000 ambulatory visits, 13,000 surgical procedures and 13,659 inpatient stays.
Located in southwest Ohio, the Dayton metro area is the fourth largest in the state and is noted for its association with aviation, most notably due to the Wright brothers’ invention of flight.
