Memorial Hermann Health System

At Memorial Hermann, it means not being satisfied with the current state of medicine. It means doing all we can to save more lives and improve clinical outcomes. For Memorial Hermann’s affiliated physicians, it means tirelessly searching for better ways to diagnose and treat patients while harnessing the latest technologies. For our nearly 20,000 employees, it means exercising uncompromising commitment to deliver the best care possible using the safest methods. For our patients, it means having the best tools to prevent health problems as well as the best chance to regain their health and reclaim their lives following an illness or injury.

Memorial Hermann is the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas and serves the greater Houston community through 11 hospitals, a vast network of affiliated physicians and numerous specialty programs and services. Our life-saving facilities include: Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, the teaching hospital for The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and home of the nation’s busiest Level I trauma center; eight suburban hospitals; three premier Heart & Vascular Institutes; TIRR Memorial Hermann, one of the nation’s top rehabilitation and research hospitals; Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital; the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute; the Mischer Neuroscience Institute; eight comprehensive Cancer Centers; 21 Imaging Centers; eight Breast Care Centers; 10 surgery centers; 25 sports medicine and rehabilitation centers; 19 diagnostic laboratories; and PaRC, a substance abuse treatment center. Memorial Hermann also operates the Life Flight® air ambulance program as well as the city’s only burn treatment center. Our new subsidiary MHealthoffers administration of self-funded healthcare benefits plus occupational medicine and wellness services in addition to new cost-effective health insurance plans underwritten by UniCare Life & Health Insurance Company, providing employers and individuals a way to cut healthcare costs without cutting quality.

As the number of Memorial Hermann facilities has grown over the years, we have remained true to our founding mission of improving healthcare for the people of southeast Texas. Our employees embrace a culture of individual accountability and innovation. This has led to a relentless focus on improving quality and patient safety and has brought us numerous awards, including the prestigious National Quality Healthcare Award from the National Quality Forum in 2009. Memorial Hermann uses its resources to make a real difference in the health of the community, contributing in excess of $300 million annually in uncompensated care and community benefit programs, including an award-winning network of public school-based health centers.

Memorial Hermann performs more brain and neurosurgeries than anyone else in Houston and some 50,000 heart procedures each year. By establishing the nation’s first complete, citywide Chest Pain Center network and the region’s largest Stroke Network, we offer the community quicker access to life-saving care -- and more breakthroughs every day.
