Indiana Regional Medical Center (IRMC) and Punxsutawney Area Hospital (PAH) have enhanced their relationship with their parent company, Pennsylvania Mountains Health Care Network (PMCN) to create an even more fully integrated health care system.
This helps to preserve, enhance and provide quality of healthcare for patients in the multi-county service area for both hospitals and will create some synergies of scale and sustainability for two well-run organizations. The same individuals will now sit on the boards of PMCN, IRMC and PAH and a combined executive management team will represent the common interests of these rural communities for the long-term.
Both hospitals will retain their local identities and will operate as two separate nonprofit corporations operating two separately -licensed community hospitals. While there will be some sharing of human resources for the benefit of respective patient communities, each hospital will retain its existing medical and nursing staffs, employees, volunteers and community connections.
PMCN was formed in 2015 as the parent company of IRMC and PAH as the facilities explored opportunities to more closely integrate in an increasingly challenging health care marketplace.
“We believe this collaboration will help to sustain a high level of patient care residents already receive in Indiana and Jefferson counties,” said Mr. Wolfe. “We are excited to cement our relationship with PAH with whom we have enjoyed a twenty-year relationship. This closely aligned affiliation will ensure our collective institutional viability and relevance in today’s competitive health care market.”
