With its abundance of recreational and cultural pleasures, central New York provides a great place to live for both individuals and families. There is a strong feeling of community within this region, which attracts people from all over the country.

This vast region offers the best of both worlds. The surrounding areas have an abundance of lakes, streams and mountains that form the Catskill Mountain Range and the Adirondack State Park. Cooperstown, where Bassett Medical Center is located, is only an hour and a half away from Albany, the state capital.  Syracuse, Boston, Montreal, and New York City can be easily reached for convenient weekend getaways to enjoy a range of cultural and leisure activities.

Bassett’s eight-county service area encompasses the counties of Chenango, Delaware, Fulton, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Otsego and Schoharie, and is bordered by the cities of Albany, Utica, Syracuse and Binghamton. The six hospitals in the Bassett Healthcare Network include Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Little Falls Hospital, O’Connor Hospital in Delhi, and Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney. Twenty-eight regional outpatient health centers stretch north to Herkimer, west to Hamilton, to Delanson in the east, and southernmost to Walton.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the Fenimore Art Museum, the Farmer’s Museum, and the Glimmerglass Opera are just a few of the cultural opportunities located in Cooperstown.

The central New York region experiences the variety and magnificence of the four seasons with corresponding variations in temperature and precipitation. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the beautiful summer nights, breathtaking autumns, and enchanting snowfalls, which make year round activities a delight.

Bassett is committed to helping our staff achieve balance between professional and family life.
