The Facility:
Southside Regional Medical Center, part of the Catholic Bon Secours system, is a 300-bed facility located on a 50-acre campus with nearly 400 physicians representing more than 40 specialties. It currently sees about 1,800 annual deliveries.
The Location:
The hospital serves the Richmond, VA area including the communities of Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Fort Lee and Chester. Southside Regional serves as a center for both learning and practicing innovative medicine, with three professional schools on the campus and seven satellite outpatient centers. It offers state-of-the-art labor and delivery rooms, specialty care for newborns, private family suites, certified nurse-midwife services and doula-trained nurses, lactation consultants and birthing classes.
The history of Petersburg, Virginia is almost as long as the history of the United States. Located along the James River and at the junction of the James and Appomattox rivers, the Petersburg Area continues to be a region of great historical, commercial and economic importance. The city is 21 miles south of the commonwealth capital city of Richmond.
