Canton-Potsdam Hospital

Canton-Potsdam Hospital Logo

St. Lawrence Health (“SLH”) recently affiliated with Rochester Regional Health to further their joint mission to enhance lives and preserve health by providing access to the highest quality and most affordable care, delivered with kindness, integrity, and respect.

Located on the northern border of New York State, St. Lawrence County is nestled between the Adirondack Mountains and the St. Lawrence River Valley.

St. Lawrence Health is comprised of three hospitals:

  • Canton-Potsdam Hospital – a 94-bed community healthcare facility providing services in emergency medicine, acute care, hospitalist and critical care, a Level III Trauma Center, and 25 different specialties including outpatient health service, orthopedics and sports medicine, and a cancer center.
  • Massena Hospital – a 25-bed acute care facility providing medical, surgical, labor & delivery, pediatrics, and emergency services.
  • Gouverneur Hospital – a 25-bed critical access hospital.

Our communities offer many activities to meet a variety of interests. Proximity to both the St. Lawrence River and the Adirondack Mountains offers easy access to many outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, fishing, skiing, and golfing. The two state and two private universities (SUNY – Potsdam which includes Crane School of Music, Clarkson University, St. Lawrence University, and SUNY – Canton) offer high-quality theatrical and musical performances. A quick drive brings you to two world-class Canadian cities Ottawa, Ontario, and Montreal, Quebec, as well as Lake Placid, NY which was home to two Winter Olympics.

Guided by strategic, medical staff, and master facilities plans, SLH hospitals have achieved incredible success when so many other small and rural hospitals struggle to survive.  Resulting, consistent financial surpluses have funded a series of new construction and renovation projects designed to accommodate our growth in providers and patients and to upgrade existing facilities.

If you are interested in the prospect of a comfortable and active lifestyle, a safe family-oriented community with great schools, and the ability to have a satisfying career with an opportunity for professional growth, St. Lawrence Health may be for you.
