Cornerstone Care Inc.

Cornerstone Care is a non-profit network of Federally Qualified Community Health Centers (FQHC) and practices serving communities throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia and Eastern Ohio. Our mission is to improve the health of our patients and all the residents of the communities we serve. We reach out to all individuals in recognition of the barriers to accessing health, dental and mental care that many of our neighbors face. These barriers include lack of health insurance, lack of transportation, shortage of health care providers, lack of providers accepting medical assistance, and so forth. We continually strive to mobilize resources in response to unmet community needs and provide care to the entire community regardless of income status. A volunteer board of directors, a majority who are patients, governs us.
Cornerstone Care employs over 190 professional, administrative, and support staff. Our provider staff includes: 8 Family Practice Physicians, 5 Pediatricians, 2 OB/GYN Physicians, 2 Podiatrists, 1 Chiropractor, 1 Psychologist, 3 Psychiatrists, an Orthodontist, 9 Dentists, and 7 Mental Health Counselors.
Most of our services are open to the entire community, although some of our special projects may have eligibility requirements defined by a funding source. Our core medical, dental, and counseling services apply a sliding fee discount for uninsured persons with incomes of 200% of poverty level and below. We accept most health insurances including Medical Assistance and Medicare. Most of our uninsured patients, who are below the poverty level, pay fees as low as $12 for a visit or service that might be otherwise billed anywhere from 60 to 150 dollars or more.
We generate over $1.3 million in free medicines for low-income uninsured patients; some of whom need as much as $800 in medicine monthly. Cornerstone Care sees over 80,000 patient visits per year. Our services contribute over $12 million annually to the regional economy.
