Located in the heart of Central Wisconsin along the Wisconsin River, Wisconsin Rapids is best known as cranberry country. During harvest in the fall you can take in the beautiful red hues of the cranberry bogs while enjoying the fall colors.
Wisconsin Rapids has a strong education system and is home to Mid-State Technical College and a short commute away from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Sports are a big part of the community as well. The city places host to the annual Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships at Lake Wazeecha and is home to the Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Show Ski Team. The team puts on weekly shows as they prepare for the state competition.
Golf enthusiasts will enjoy the unique opportunity that Sand Valley offers in the nearby town of Rome. A Top 100 Golf destination, Sandy Valley offers three courses each with unique challenges in the sand dunes. There are several other great golf locations throughout town to check out. The community also is home to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, a baseball team in the Northwoods League that has a strong history of producing elite-level college players and has also featured several elite MLB players.
For the art and culture lover, there are plenty of art programs, museums and a local community theater in town. In addition to a variety of great restaurants, Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese is a popular stop to stock up on great cheese products produced locally.
