Our charm is in our people: friendly, family-oriented, and fun-loving. We have arts, music, museums, festivals, national retail shopping, and the whole west Texas to explore! Midland is located midway between Dallas/Fort Worth and El Paso on Interstate 20. Twenty minutes to the west is Odessa, with a population of about 100,000. With Midland’s population now over 150,000, a quarter of a million people now reside in the metropolitan area. The area's airport services travelers daily, non-stop to Dallas, Houston, Denver, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Midland sits in the center of about 20 percent of America’s oil and gas reserves located in reservoirs deep beneath the surface.
The area’s low humidity, combined with warm days and cool nights, contributes to the year-round comfort of Midlanders. Residents enjoy over 300 sunny days each year allowing playing golf, tennis, hiking, and biking almost every day.
Scenic lakes, campgrounds, and wilderness areas are easily accessible to recreation-oriented Midlanders. Midland is only a few hours drive from the dramatic scenery of Big Bend National Park, the underground splendor of Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, and the natural beauty of the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains. The ski slopes of Colorado and New Mexico are within driving distance, and the twelve lakes that are within a 150-mile radius of Midland provide a variety of opportunities for water lovers.
