Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP)

Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) is a dynamic institution dedicated to compassionate and timely access to care for their diverse patient population. MCSP’s medical staff consists of almost 300 clinicians, nurses, and allied health professionals providing primary care to a patient population of approximately 2,500.  While several stand alone clinics provide care for routine non-emergent medical issues, MCSP also utilizes a Central Health Unit that houses a Triage and Treatment Area (emergency room), Medical Records, Telemedicine, and Laboratory, Radiology, and Pharmacy Services for both the 10-bed inpatient unit and outpatient population.

Additionally, MCSP provides on-site specialty services including Podiatry, Physical Therapy, MRI, CT, Fibroscan, Audiology, and Optometry.  Patients needing additional specialty services can be seen off-site by one of our contracted providers. These services include, but are not limited to, Cardiology, Chemotherapy, Dermatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Rheumatology, and Urology.

MCSP is located in the charming community of Ione.  Here, you can take advantage of all the outdoor activities the area has to offer including golfing on a championship golf course, hiking and biking through scenic Gold country, or exploring Amador county’s 42 vineyards.  And with a reasonable commute from many surrounding communities, you’ll have your choice of country, suburban, or city living.

Plus, with the positive work-life balance their physicians experience, there is ample time to explore the area’s many recreational opportunities, experience the Sacramento areas’ fine farm-to-fork dining, or simply relax with friends and family.
