Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) offers providers the opportunity to practice medicine at one of the nation's leading rural hospitals. SVMC is a full-service community hospital licensed for 99 beds in Bennington, Vt. Since 1918, SVMC has brought high-quality health care to the residents of Southwestern Vermont and neighboring communities in Massachusetts and New York.
SVMC is part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care, and integrated health system thatincludes a nursing home and rehabilitation facility and a large multi-specialty medical practice operated in partnership with Dartmouth-Hitchcock one of the nation's leading academic medical centers and research facilities. Most of the physicians who provide care in SVMC's medical practices and in our hospital are employees of Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
SVMC was the first hospital in Vermont and third in New England to earn Magnet recognition for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Association. The association reports that independently sponsored research shows that Magnet-designated facilities consistently outperform non-magnet organizations, delivering better patient outcomes. The improved outcomes include shorter lengths of stay, lower mortality rates, and increased patient satisfaction rates.
