Rex is a 660 bed hospital; which is a Gold-Plus Joint-Commission certified primary Stroke Center, currently in the process of building a comprehensive stroke center. A state of-the-art Bi-plane Cath Lab and a closed Neuro-intensive care unit are under structure. UNC REX is also one of the busiest vascular and cardiac centers in eastern North Carolina. It is centrally located in Wake County, one of the fastest growing counties in the country, and is part of the UNC Health Care Systems which consists of 10 hospitals with a large referral base.
