Vista del Mar Hospital is an accredited organization offering comprehensive mental health care, for both adults and adolescents. Our beautiful and spacious facility is located on 16 acres of land in Ventura, California. We are tucked away just off the coast between Los Padres National Forest and the Santa Monica Mountains, slightly northeast of downtown Ventura. Access to Highway 33 and the 101 Freeway are just a few minutes west of our facility, giving family members and visitors easy access to Ventura Freeways and nearby Southern California hotels.

Vista del Mar Hospital, located in Ventura, California, is an acute psychiatric facility situated on 16 acres with ocean views. Our highly structured and comprehensive programs provide the very best in mental health care. Vista del Mar Hospital has earned The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for hospital accreditation©. We offer specialized units for Adult and Adolescent stabilization and safety. In addition to crisis stabilization, Vista del Mar Hospital offers a Dual Diagnosis Program designed to help patients with a mental health diagnosis and chemical dependency. Treatment on the Dual Diagnosis Unit may also include medically supervised detoxification. Each patient receives an individualized treatment plan to help ensure success upon discharge. The Military Support Program offers treatment for active duty, dependents, and veterans. Specializing in Post-traumatic Stress and Military Sexual Trauma, our programs use evidence-based treatments and are approved by the Department of Defense.

Programs include:

Adult and Adolescent Inpatient Care

Designed for those individuals experiencing severe psychological symptoms. Our dedicated team works to assess and rapidly stabilize patients who are experiencing severe psychological symptoms. Vista del Mar Hospital utilizes Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) treatment model, an evidence-based program. IMR assists patients in setting meaningful goals while providing information about mental illness and treatment options. Patients also learn skills for reducing relapses, dealing with stress, and coping with symptoms.

Detox and Chemical Dependency

Vista del Mar Hospital offers the first step in recovery through our inpatient detoxification and chemical dependency program for adults 18 and over. Vista offers confidential care with 24-hour medical supervision in a safe and comfortable setting. Living in Balance is a community-based treatment program designed to help adults overcome substance addiction and prevent potential relapses.

Military Support Program (Active Duty and Veterans)

Vista del Mar Hospital offers a 30 to 90-day program specializing in the treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Co-occurring PTSD/Substance Abuse and Mood Disorders. This program offers a dedicated Psychiatrist, Therapist and Military Case Manager. The military support program includes daily groups and individualized therapy using Department of Defense approved evidenced-based practices. In addition, adjunct therapies such as Equine Therapy, Yoga and Mindfulness-based stress reduction are incorporated.

Adult Intensive Outpatient Program

IOP provides intensive short-term treatment with flexible scheduling to balance treatment needs and everyday responsibilities. Attendance is three days per week, three hours per day (Monday-Friday), with program completion within two to four weeks. Groups focus on tools for symptom management and sustained recovery.

Adult Partial Hospitalization Program

PHP provides active treatment for individuals with acute mental illness and/or addiction issues. Attendance is Monday through Friday, ranging from two to four weeks. Programming is based on highly structured evidence-based treatment models offered within a safe and therapeutic environment. Patients participate in group therapy, as well as educational and family group sessions. The treatment team includes a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurses, and licensed therapists.

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program

Our Adolescent IOP services help address the struggles of today's teens. Our program is designed to provide tools and build support while connecting teens and their families. The Adolescent IOP meets three times per week. Our program offers parent updates and a weekly family group to help communicate and build tools for ongoing success.
