WVU Medicine East - Jefferson Medical Center
WVU Medicine East is a not for profit healthcare delivery system for West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle. The system was created when two community hospitals, Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center, merged in 2005. University Healthcare-East is also affiliated with West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV.
WVU East has a collaborative relationship with WVU School of Medicine-Eastern Division to train physicians and other healthcare providers. The WVU-Eastern Division currently offers a family medicine residency program, a geriatrics fellowship program, and a PharmD program. They also offer 3rd and 4th year rural medical school options for students — enabling area physicians desirable teaching opportunities.
West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle boasts a steady 20% growth rate over the past five years while maintaining an unemployment rate of less than 5%. New Cardiac Cath Lab. Outstanding fully digital Radiology Services including interventional radiology. New 20 bed ICU/CCU. Obstetrics department with 1,000+ per year, a Pediatrics Unit, Wound Care Center and Inpatient/Outpatient Oncology Services with clinical trials.
Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV (Jefferson County) is a full service Critical Access Hospital with 25 Acute Care Beds.24-hour Emergency Department with over 30,000 ER visits annually. The hospital offers Digital Radiology (including SPECT), a Critical Care Unit, an Obstetrics Unit with 300+ births per year.
