Position Summary:
Physician will treat patients who present to the HPH Emergency Department (ED) consistent with applicable law and current standards of care. Physician will treat patients who present for care, establish effective patient care plans and refer patients to the appropriate specialist(s). Physician will oversee the functioning of the ED during the assigned shift from patient arrival to admission/discharge in collaboration with the ED staff and hospital departments to ensure timely care/effective throughput.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Promptly assess patients who present to the ED for care.
Order appropriate medical tests and treatments.
Develop a patient treatment plan.
Oversee patient care, treatment, and recovery
Admit, treat, and discharge patients in accordance with current standards of care and established policies/procedures.
Respond to patient needs including responding to patient phone calls in a timely manner.
Document care provided and authenticate medical records/related reports in a timely manner.
Complete and submit all encounter forms on a timely basis. Ensure appropriate level of coding and compliance with government and third party regulations regarding documentation, including teaching physician rules.
Refer patients to appropriate specialists.
Conduct assessment and re-assessment of patient based on patient condition.
Communicate effectively with patients, staff and other providers.
Provide discharge instructions and prepare relevant documents.
Performs duties according to approved policies and procedures relating to CMS/Joint Commission, OSHA, Universal Body Fluid presentations and other regulatory body standards.
Qualifications:
Medical Degree (M.D.), or D.O. degree from an accredited school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine required
Current and valid Illinois license as a physician
Current and valid DEA and IL Controlled Substance
Responsibilities:
Provides comprehensive women s health care services to Humboldt Park Health patients, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease
Hospital practice includes labor and delivery as well as gynecologic surgery relevant to general obstetrics and gynecology.
Outpatient work includes management of general obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic consultation, and office-based procedures such as ultrasound, colposcopy and LEEP
Provide direct patient care as a physician in the office, hospital, or other locations within the community as assigned
The position will require a few in-house overnight calls with the opportunity for additional moonlighting if desired.
