New York Children s Medical Provider Services (NYCMPS), the NY based physician group associated with Connecticut Children s, is seeking multiple advanced practice providers to fill immediate openings at Nuvance Health Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine is expanding care for the community in our close-to-home strategy, and creating tremendous growth and opportunity for career advancement, including leadership opportunities.

Connecticut Children s  is a 187-bed, free-standing, tertiary care teaching hospital which serves as the primary pediatric teaching site for the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. The hospital includes a Level 1 Trauma Center, a full cadre of pediatric specialists, and offers comprehensive, world-class health care to children. SUMMARY

The AP-Nursery/Hosp is accountable for delivering comprehensive quality patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions according to standards of practice for children in the nursery, and may lend additional support to the Pediatric Hospital Medicine attending in the care of pediatric patients.  The practitioner functions as a member of an inpatient physician team within an integrated academic model.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Treat and evaluate infants in the well nursery and promote the health of the infant and family.

Perform pediatric histories and physical examinations; interpret diagnostic lab test and x-ray results.

Coordinate patient care with team members, other staff, community agencies and a wide variety of providers.

Consult with attending physicians to discuss patient care and monitor outcomes.

Participate in teaching and learning in an integrated academic model.

Document clearly and accurately within the medical record and satisfy medical record requirements.

Practice preventive health care through patient and family education and child health advocacy.

Participate in special initiatives, programs and services as assigned.

Maintain professional expertise through involvement in professional organizations and continuing education programs.  Encourage team members to do the same.

Supports Pediatric Hospital Medicine Physician if needed to support inpatient team; including assisting with consultations in the Emergency Department, and Inpatient Pediatric Care.

Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the Connecticut Children s and New York Childrens Medical Provider Services STANDARDS

EDUCATION and/or  EXPERIENCE  REQUIRED

Registered and Certified Physician Assistant or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with completion of certified Pediatric P.A. or PNP residency in pediatric and neonatal medicine or family medicine. Bilingual and bicultural in English and Spanish preferred.

Registered and Certified Physician Assistant -or- Current State of NY Physician Assistant licensure -or-   Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure required at time of hire and maintenance at time of appointment or privilege approval (allow one-year grace period for renewal if gap).

For PA hires: required  to obtain and maintain NCCPA certification at time of appointment or privilege approval; allow one-year grace period for renewal if gap.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or NRP certification required.

Specialty licensure/certification may be required, as specified by department
