Psychiatrist Job at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Merriam, KS

Located in suburban Kansas City, AdventHealth Shawnee Mission  is searching for highly skilled and patient-focused psychiatrist  to care for patients in a busy 42-bed inpatient Behavioral Health program. Our psychiatrists provide mental health, substance abuse and dual diagnosis treatment for voluntary adult and senior inpatients. We also offer a robust ECT program for inpatients and outpatients; a highly reputable Intensive Outpatient Program with tracks for mental health, substance abuse and dual diagnosis; and a Behavioral Health Assessment Center.

ABOUT OUR PSYCHIATRY POSITION:

• We see ages 18 and up; voluntary; no separate geriatric unit
• Average patients per provider range from 15 to 18 (includes inpatient, medical floor consults, and IOP)
• 42 bed unit
• ALOS = 5 days
• Multidisciplinary Treatment Team meetings x2/week
• Mental illness and dual diagnosis tracks
• Support staff include therapists, nurses, techs, and administrative coordinator
• H & P physicals
• EMR - Epic

Rounding

• Adult inpatient psychiatric coverage/rounding (in-person): weekdays (8am to 5pm)
• 1-2 weekends rounding per month; 8am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday
• Before or after a rounding weekend, the provider will have two days off for rejuvenation

Areas to round:

• Inpatient Psychiatric Unit
• IOP coverage (based on volume); IOP on campus in a different building
• Consult liaison for medical floor evals (based on volume)
• ED for involuntary patients on hold in ED

On- Call

• On-call shifts 3 4 per month (4pm to 8a M-F; 8am to 8am S/S); on-call is typically phone calls from ED and unit to assist with dispositions and admit orders
• Weekends include 3 physicians
