Program Director – Urology Residency Program

Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center, in collaboration with Touro University Medical Group, is seeking an accomplished academic urologist to serve as Program Director for its ACGME-accredited Urology Residency Program. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead and further develop a relatively new and highly promising residency training program within a dynamic "privademics" environment that integrates academic excellence with private-practice efficiency.
The selected candidate will assume a central role in shaping the future of urologic education and care in one of California’s fastest-growing regions, which faces a substantial unmet need for urologic services. As a physician leader, the Program Director will ensure compliance with all ACGME requirements while cultivating a culture of clinical excellence, scholarly activity, and humanistic patient care.
The inaugural class of urology residents began training in July 2022
The program supports 2 residents per year
One of nine ACGME-accredited residency programs based at St. Joseph’s Medical Center
Training occurs within a state-of-the-art simulation center and dedicated GME office
Access to the Xi Da Vinci Robot
Academic appointments available through Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine
Program is based at a 355-bed Common Spirit hospital recognized by Healthgrades and Fortune as one of the nation’s top hospitals
Serve as the educational and administrative leader of the residency program
Oversee curriculum development, evaluation, and continuous program improvement
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate residents and faculty
Ensure compliance with all ACGME and institutional policies
Foster an environment conducive to learning, research, and compassionate patient care
Collaborate with hospital and university leadership to advance the mission of the program and the institution
Board Certification in Urology required
Minimum of three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited residency program (as Program Director, Associate/Assistant PD, or Core Faculty)
Demonstrated commitment to graduate medical education and academic leadership
Track record of scholarly activity and mentorship
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
Competitive base salary of $525,000–$550,000, with potential for additional clinical income
Employed physician model with two-year income guarantee
