WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The Float Medical Provider is an MD/DO, NP or PA in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Pediatrics and is responsible for providing high quality primary care to the patients of Elica Health Centers in the outpatient setting. Elica Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing comprehensive primary and preventative health care services to a growing patient population. We are committed to providing excellent service to our patient population. Our rapidly expanding center offers services that include: internal and family medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, care management, and behavioral health. Elica is dedicated to serving low-income, multi-ethnic populations throughout the greater Sacramento area, with a special focus on immigrant communities. We are a diverse team, passionate about meeting the needs of our community through patient-centered, compassionate, comprehensive, integrated care.
This is a hybrid role that requires covering the in-person and/or remote clinic schedule and inbox for other medical providers who are on leave. When in-person coverage is needed, Float Medical Provider will be scheduled in-person at an Elica Health Center location in the Greater Sacramento area. When coverage is not needed, the Float Medical Provider has a remote telemedicine schedule for same-day visits.
This role offers great flexibility in terms of hours. Both 8- and 10-hour weekday schedules will be considered, as well as 8- to 40-hour week schedules. Schedules can be either the same every week or based on organizational need, depending on the Float Medical Provider s preference. There are no on-call responsibilities, panel of patients, supervision of other providers, or required weekend hours. In-person work will be required when covering for an in-person provider s leave; otherwise, work will be remote.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The successful candidate will be willing and able to:
- Provide comprehensive medical services to Elica patients consistent with specialty scope of practice in a community clinic environment, including taking appropriate health history, performing physical examination, developing differential diagnoses, completing medical work-up, performing or ordering appropriate lab, imaging, and other tests, prescribing and implementing appropriate therapy according to standard medical practice.
- Obtain appropriate consults when problems presented are outside the scope of practice or area of expertise or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patient s care.
- Facilitate transfer of care to other clinicians when religious or personal beliefs interfere with the clinician s ability to offer full care options.
- Provide oral and written health education to Elica patients and their families and answer questions.
- Maintain productivity standards in order to sustain access to care while maintaining high quality.
- Answer messages and sign off on clinical reports (consults, lab, x-rays, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Complete legible and legally defensible medical records in a timely manner on a daily basis.
- Complete and submit all billing in a timely manner.
- Attend continuing education programs and submit evidence of necessary education completion for the purpose of upgrading medical skills and maintaining licensing requirements.
- Offer cultural and linguistically appropriate services to a diverse and often socioeconomically challenged population.
- Be flexible and able to change plans as needed, as schedules may not always be known in advance, as some provider leave-of-absences may occur without advance warning.
The successful candidate has:
- At least 1-2 years of clinical experience working with underserved, low-income persons or homeless persons preferred
- Current BLS and DEA certification
- Bilingual in English and Russian, Farsi, Pashto/Pushto, or Spanish speaking preferred
Nurse Practitioner:
- Current California RN/NP/NPF License.
- Current Nurse Practitioner board certification
Physician Assistant
- California Physician Assistant License
- Physician Assistant Certificate
- NCCPA board certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- All aspects of primary care practice; current, standard medical practices, treatments, test, and therapies, including acute care, chronic illness management, preventive care, behavior and psychopharmacology.
- Current emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues and approaches in your area of expertise.
- Pertinent federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding scope of practice issues affecting licensed community clinics.
- Principles of management and supervision.
- General information about public and private health insurance and third-party reimbursement issues.
- Community resources related to specialty care and other health-related services.
- HIPAA security and privacy regulations.
- Clinical quality measures, such as HRSA core measures, HEDIS, PCMH, etc.
Skills in
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Able to give and receive constructive feedback, holding him/herself and others accountable.
- Exercising good judgment in clinical decision-making and client care.
- Effective organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail.
- Using a computer for word processing, data entry and e-mail.
- Knowledge of modern office equipment.
- Speaking and understanding multiple languages is highly desirable.
Ability to
- Maintain physical and mental health status in order to demonstrate professional and ethical competence in providing high quality medical care to Elica clients.
- Interpret, adapt and apply treatment protocols/guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain professional behavior with all levels of colleagues, staff, clients and the public, including refraining from negative comments about peers in public and in the medical record, resolving conflict with peers and staff in a private setting in a timely manner, and demonstrating courtesy and respect.
- Accept and be receptive to audit feedback and other types of clinical review.
- Understand patient needs as consumers of healthcare and focus service around those needs.
- Ability to maintain timely records and files.
- Understand the company s policies and procedures in compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams of providers and staff.
- Attend scheduled provider meetings.
- Pass all mandated compliance training to meet regulations and requirements from all governmental and clinical agencies.
Compensation - Dependent Upon Experience
NP/PA: $131,040 - $170,352 annually
