Street Medicine Provider (MD/DO/NP/PA)

What We Offer:

  • A Flexible Schedule: We offer flexible scheduling options including 4/10 schedules, part-time positions, or job-sharing arrangements to accommodate individual needs.

  • Dedicated Administrative Time EVERYDAY: You will have 40 minutes of protected time at the end of each day to finish charting or attend to any administrative matters. If you work a 10 hour work day, then you will have ONE HOUR of protected time at the end of each work day.

  • Use Cutting Edge Technology: Including Dragon translation services or Dragon Ambient Experience (DAX) artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and save you time!

  • Enjoy Team Support and Collaboration: Your team support includes an open door to the Elica Chief Medical Officer and four Associate Medical Directors each focused on providing support (Quality Improvement, Peds, Mobile Medicine, Etc). A monthly Medical team meeting offers training, new policy/procedures, collaborative efforts, as well as time for mingling with your colleagues

  • Elica Health Centers Resource Center Helps You Help Your Patients: Our amazing resource center is staffed with Care Coordinators that speak up to 24 different languages offering resources to help with food, clothing, housing, or financial assistance. This unique wraparound service provides your patients lifesaving support so good health is within reach.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Street Medicine Provider is responsible for providing direct medical care to people experiencing homelessness in the community. This includes providing primary care, mental health care, and substance abuse treatment. The Street Medicine Provider will also work to build relationships with people experiencing homelessness and connect them to other resources in the community. 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The successful candidate will be willing and able to:

  • Provide direct medical care to people experiencing homelessness, including physical exams, medication management, and referrals to other medical providers.
  • Build relationships with people experiencing homelessness and work to understand their needs.
  • Connect people experiencing homelessness to other resources in the community, such as housing, food, and employment.
  • Advocate for the rights of people experiencing homelessness and work to improve the quality of their lives.
  • Participate in outreach and education activities to raise awareness of the health needs of people experiencing homelessness.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports.

The successful candidate has:

  • At least 1-2 years of clinical experience working with underserved, low-income persons or homeless persons preferred.
  • Current BLS and DEA certification
  • Bilingual in English and Russian, Farsi, Pashto/Pushto, or Spanish speaking preferred

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Current California RN/NP/NPF License
  • Current Nurse Practitioner board certification

Physician Assistant:

  • California Physician Assistant License
  • Physician Assistant Certificate
  • NCCPA board certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • All aspects of primary care practice; current, standard medical practices, treatments, test, and therapies, including acute care, chronic illness management, preventive care, behavior and psychopharmacology.
  • Current emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues and approaches in area of expertise.
  • Pertinent federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding scope of practice issues affecting licensed community clinics.
  • Principles of management and supervision.
  • General information about public and private health insurance and third-party reimbursement issues.
  • Community resources related to specialty care and other health-related services.
  • HIPAA security and privacy regulations.
  • Clinical quality measures, such as HRSA core measures, HEDIS, PCMH, etc.

Skills in

  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Able to give and receive constructive feedback, holding him/herself and others accountable.
  • Exercising good judgment in clinical decision-making and client care.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail.
  • Using a computer for word processing, data entry and e-mail.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment.
  • Speaking and understanding multiple languages is highly desirable.

Compensation - Dependent Upon Experience

NP/PA: $131,040 - $170,352 annually
