Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide general pediatric medical care and treatment to patients   with the collaboration of a Physician. Patient care includes providing comprehensive medical services for members of the family ages 0 through 21, regardless of gender, within scope of training. Services include but are not limited to: preventive care, immunizations, primary care and treatment, health education, prescribing of medications, ordering and interpreting lab testing, physical examinations, STD screenings, vision/hearing, women s health, family planning, prenatal services, nutrition. Provider may be used in a variety of locations depending upon the need of the organization. Clinic shifts include 1 evening a week and 1-2 Saturdays/month.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Provide continuous, comprehensive primary care for infants, children, youth, and adults from ages 0 through 21, according to current standards of care.
  • Take patient histories and document the patient medical record
  • Examines patients for symptoms or physical information
  • Shows good insight and judgment with relation to patient care
  • Perform or request diagnostic tests.
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination to diagnose condition of patient
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe medication/treatments as necessary
    Administer vaccinations or injections, if needed
    Educate patients in disease prevention and health maintenance.
  • Prepare all medical records, clinical reports and correspondences.
  • Support quality initiatives.
  • Work in collaboration with management team and providers.
  • Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for the position.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Master of Science in Nursing in an accredited program with a required 500 clinical hours of supervised direct care in primary care pediatrics OR DNP degree program  or post-graduate certificate program  for primary care pediatric nurse practitioners (PNPs)
     
  • Specialty Certification through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board Certification in Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC Certification Exam)
