Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Family Medicine

Job Description

Responsibilities

Summary:
Provider cares for patients, by providing outpatient, primary care services. Provider will lead and work collaboratively with a team, including nurses, medical assistants, case and care managers, behavioral health clinicians, pharmacist clinicians, and clerical staff to provide care to patients. The position requires regular communication and collaboration with others.


Responsibilities:
1.Provide comprehensive medical care to patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
2.Make professional medical judgments in the care of patients seen.
3.Order, conduct, and interpret appropriate diagnostic x-ray and lab tests.
4.Prescribe treatments, medications, and non-pharmacologic therapies.
5.Document all patient encounters and communications appropriately.
6.Manage the provider/patient relationship.
7.Receive and resolve patient complaints.
8.Involved in education and counseling of individuals, families, and groups.
9.Serve as a health care resources, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
10.Work autonomously as well as in collaboration with other health care providers and staff as needed.
11.Participate in the recruitment and replacement of other providers.
12.Participate in system-wide health management initiatives.
13.Provide input into the practice sites financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget, capital plan, and personnel issues.
14.Provides clinical input into the development and review of appropriate clinical protocols and processes.
15.Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
16.Perform other functions as required.
17.Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings, provider and site meetings.
18.Modifies assessment techniques according to patients condition, culture, age, and stage of development.
19.Maintain coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and reimbursement level, including legible documentation.

Credentials Required
Nurse Practitioner  - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, ANCC certification required. Minimum of two years experience preferred but not required.


Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required. Minimum of two years experience preferred but not required.
