Job Description:

Overview:
Penn State Health - Cancer Institute in Hershey, PA, is seeking a dedicated and board-certified Locum Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a specialization in Hematology Oncology. The role involves providing outpatient care to patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient setting for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions.
  2. Perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage ongoing care for patients.
  3. Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and ensure the implementation of evidence-based practices.
  4. Utilize Cerner EMR system for documenting patient interactions and maintaining accurate records.
  5. Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and care plans.
  6. Participate in patient follow-ups and manage any ongoing or emerging issues.

Qualifications:

  1. Board Certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a specialization in Hematology Oncology.
  2. Previous experience in an outpatient hematology oncology setting is preferred.
  3. Proficient in using Cerner EMR system.
  4. Strong clinical skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient education and care.

Schedule and Compensation:

  1. Coverage includes scheduled clinical hours only.
  2. Start Date: October 1, 2024
  3. End Date: January 31, 2025
