Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide quality patient-centered medical care by providing comprehensive medical care to a wide variety of patients in an efficient and cost effective manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

  1. Meets Physician Standards by:
    1. Providing professional medical services to patients during scheduled clinical session; maintaining a patient panel in line with Center standards; providing coordination of care and managing patient population health with other care team members; leading the patient-centered medical home care team.

  1. Serves patients by:
    1. Caring for hospitalized patients daily when on call if applicable; taking inpatient if applicable and outpatient call on rotation according to Provider Staff guidelines.

  1. Manages medical support staff by:
    1. Supervising/collaborating with advanced practitioners, as appropriate and applicable.

  1. Provides historical reference by:
    1. Completing forms and documentation within requested time period.

  1. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by:
    1. Participating in an ongoing basis in a Continuing Medical Education Program.

  1. Keeps informed by:
    1. Attending committee, provider, departmental and patient-centered medical home care team meetings as assigned .

  1. Ensures quality of care by:
    1. Participating in the Center s Continuous Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program.

  1. Participates in outreach events as needed.

  1. Serves as a preceptor to clinical students as needed.

  1. Contributes to team effort by:
    1. Accomplishing related results as needed; providing training to care team members as needed; supporting care team efforts in patients/families/caregivers self- management, self-efficacy and behavior change.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  1. Doctor of Medicine Degree from an accredited medical school; or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited school of osteopathic medicine.
  2. Board Eligible/Board Certified Physician in good standing.
  3. Proof of successful completion of National Board, USMLE or FLEX exam.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  2. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  3. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  4. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  1. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY:

  1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, valid conclusions.
  2. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  3. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  4. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  1. Licensure from the Arizona Medical Board.
  2. Current DEA Certificate, renewed as required by law.
  3. Current CPR or ACLS (for internists) Certificate, renewed as required by law.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  1. Ability and evidence of competence in general office procedures.
  2. Ability to employ the problem-oriented method of recordkeeping.
