Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Podiatrist will provide medical services in the general care and treatment of bones, muscles and joint disorders affecting the feet for patients in the Center; diagnose and treat illnesses or diseases of the feet that are found in patients; instruct patients in their proper care and treatment alternatives; and instruct medical support staff as needed.


JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt.


RATING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Provides podiatric healthcare and performs selective medical services.

within the realm of specialty and privileges.

1 2 3 4 Examine patients, diagnose diseases and deformities of the foot using medical histories,

physical examinations, x-rays, and laboratory test results.

1 2 3 4 Prescribe medication, therapy and order laboratory tests appropriate to care.

1 2 3 4 Answer correspondence relative to patients condition and consult with visiting relatives.

1 2 3 4 Provide patients with referral sources that are not within the scope of the physician’s expertise.

1 2 3 4 Consult with physician referral sources.

1 2 3 4 Advise patients about treatment and foot care techniques necessary for prevention of future

problems.

1 2 3 4 Interpret laboratory tests accurately and timely.

1 2 3 4 Accurately interprets data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.

1 2 3 4 Effectively interviews and advises patients and their family, if necessary regarding health and

illness prevention.

1 2 3 4 Effectively instructs patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions.

1 2 3 4 Addresses labs, x-rays, and referrals of patients per CHCS, Inc., state and federal guidelines

and policies.

B. Manages environment of care in safe and efficient manner:

C. Properly maintains accurate and complete medical records of various media forms (including written, computer generated, audio, video, or other forms of media) as per CHCS policies and HIPAA regulations:

1 2 3 4 Documents assessment findings, interventions, and evaluations in medical record in a timely,

accurate and complete fashion.

1 2 3 4 Maintains integrity of medical record by compliance with policies for medical record entry

corrections and late entries.

1 2 3 4 Maintains confidentiality of medical records.

1 2 3 4 Completion of Medical Record in a timely manner as stated in CHCS, Inc. guidelines, co-signs

notes in a timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must hold current, unrestricted valid Georgia license to practice podiatric medicine.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Good general health. Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and stretching. Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment of the tasks assigned. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to assess record and communicate patient assessment finding and to implement provider prescribed plans of care. Color vision is needed to distinguish some test results and reading of signs and labels. Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 lbs., as well as assisting patient transfer, to include lifting. Frequent exposure to: communicable diseases, potentially toxic substances: electrical, flammable, explosive gas hazards; medicinal preparations: and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Some work areas are small. Noise may be moderate. Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires exposure to unpleasant elements common to health care (illness, emotional distress, trauma, etc.). Is physically able to perform CPR. Is able to perform job functions with proper technique.
