Oncology - Breast Job at UK Kings Daughters in Ashland, KY

We are excited to announce a remarkable opportunity to join our oncology team at UK King’s Daughters as a Breast Surgeon specializing in Surgical Oncology. Due to a significant increase in patient volumes, we are actively seeking a second full-time oncologist breast surgeon to enhance our comprehensive cancer care program. The new surgeon will be joining our existing fellowship-trained breast surgeon Katherine Hughes, MD. Dr. Hughes has a large practice and volumes have increased significantly, along with a local breast surgeon across the river looking to retire in January. 

At UK King’s Daughters, we are committed to providing patients with the highest quality of care throughout their cancer journey. This role allows you to focus exclusively on breast surgery, with no general surgery call required. You will collaborate closely with our medical and radiation oncology teams, participating in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings where specialists discuss complex cases and develop innovative treatment plans tailored to each patient.

Our facility boasts two dedicated breast imagers—one of whom is fellowship-trained—ensuring that our outpatient imaging capabilities are top-notch. From minimally invasive procedures to complex surgical interventions, you will be part of a dedicated team that utilizes the latest advancements in chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical techniques to provide comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with breast cancer.

Position Highlights:

• Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based, outpatient
• Typical Day: 2-3 days in the OR and 2-3 days in the clinic
• Average Patients Per Day: 20+
• EMR System: EPIC
• Qualifications: Fellowship-trained oncologist breast surgeon with board certification or board eligibility
