Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive, academic health system in central New York and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking an Ophthalmologist – Retina Specialist to join our staff. Visa Sponsorship Available.

Bassett Healthcare Network is an integrated healthcare system that provides care and service to people living in an eight-county region covering 5,600 square miles in Central New York. The organization includes five corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, community and school-based health centers, and health partners in related fields.
The retina specialist would be based in Cooperstown, NY with very limited outreach responsibilities. This is a vibrant and sophisticated upstate community set in a beautiful lakefront village affording four seasons of cultural and outdoor activity. An unparalleled and well-appointed community sports center and excellent public school system.
Job Description & Responsibilities
- Join an established group of 4 Ophthalmologists and 3 Optometrists.
- The candidate will be a second medical retina specialist.
- Currently, there are specialists in medical retina, pediatrics and glaucoma.
- The support staff are well-trained and experienced in both the clinic and the operating room.
- On call is every 5th weekend and rarely busy.
- Opportunities exist for both research and teaching if interested.
- Referral patterns for tertiary care ophthalmologists are well established.
- Salary Range: $358,000 - $598,970 plus performance-based compensation. This compensation range represents Bassett Healthcare’s good-faith belief in the compensation range at the time of this posting or advertisement. Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
- Fellowship stipend up to $40,000 for up to 18 months prior to graduation
- Sign-on Bonus up to $100,000

Job Qualifications
- MD, DO or MBBS
- Board Eligible or Board Certified
- Fellowship in Medical Retina
- NYS Licensure
- BLS Certification Required
- DEA Required
