Job Description

Job Title: Dentist (DDS/DMD)

Location: North Bend, OR
Organization: Waterfall Community Health Center
Pay: $162,000 - $200,000 per year (DOE)


Job Purpose:

As a Dentist (DDS/DMD) at Waterfall Community Health Center, you will work in a team-based, mission-driven environment to provide high-quality dental care. Your role will involve health promotion, patient education, assessment, acute and chronic care, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals. You will focus on reducing barriers to care while diagnosing, treating, and managing dental conditions and injuries of the teeth and mouth.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Align with the mission and values of Waterfall Community Health Center, aiming to remove barriers to care and demonstrate integrity, respect, accountability, compassion, partnership, and collaborative communication.
  • Obtain and record patient dental health history; assess intraoral and peri-oral conditions, including caries, endodontic/periodontal pathology, soft tissue, and developmental issues.
  • Diagnose and treat emergency dental cases, such as toothaches, broken teeth/restorations, dislodged crowns/bridges, and broken dentures.
  • Develop and implement patient treatment plans, including preventive, endodontic, periodontal, restorative, and follow-up care.
  • Refer complex cases requiring advanced endodontic, surgical, or periodontal treatment to specialists.
  • Perform dental procedures, including amalgam and composite restorations, single and double canal endodontic therapy, extractions of erupted teeth and roots, prophylaxis, and periodontal scaling/root planning.
  • Counsel patients on managing and alleviating symptoms of chronic dental conditions.
  • Analyze patient records, reports, and test results to diagnose and manage dental conditions.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications within your specialty.
  • Maintain and update client medical charts and necessary records.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance professional competence and stay current with best practices.
  • Participate in Clinical Quality Improvement (CQI) and Quality Management (QM) meetings and other organizational meetings as needed.
  • Exhibit ethical behavior and high standards to promote individual and organizational integrity.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the organization’s vision and mission.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited dental school with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
  • Licensure and Certifications:
    • Unrestricted Oregon State dental license.
    • Current DEA certification without restrictions.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or completion within 6 months of hire).
    • Completion of Non-violent Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of hire, with ongoing recertification as required.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of dental experience preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in English, with additional languages preferred.
    • Eligible for credentialing with Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance providers.
    • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality healthcare for low-income, ethnically diverse populations.

Immunization Requirements:

  • Tuberculosis (TB) test upon hire.
