Job Title: Physician Assistant (PA) – Urgent Care

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Urgent Care team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered medical care to individuals of all ages in a fast-paced urgent care setting. The PA will work under the supervision of an on-site physician, independently assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries while ensuring excellent patient care. The urgent care facilities are part of the Torrance Memorial Health System. In Newsweek's 2024 World's Best Hospitals list, Torrance Memorial Medical Center ranked 43rd in the nation, 10th in California, and among the top 150-250 hospitals globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries in patients of all ages.
- Perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, labs, EKGs).
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications as appropriate.
- Perform procedures including suturing, abscess drainage, wound care, splinting, and slit lamp examination.
- Collaborate with on-site physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and provide appropriate aftercare instructions.
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
- Triage patients effectively, recognizing emergency conditions requiring hospital transfer.
- Ensure compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain professional development and stay up to date with best practices in urgent care medicine.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of two years of post-graduate clinical experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient care and teamwork.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
Licensure/Certification:
- DEA license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible schedule working approximately 10.5 hours weekdays and 9.5 hours weekends
Compensation:
- Weekday hourly rate ranges from $70 - $90
- Additional $15/hour weekend differential
- Paid 30-minute meal break
- Overtime paid after 8 hours
- Major holidays paid 1.5 times the weekday hourly rate
