Job Description

Good Shepherd Healthcare System (GSHCS) is looking for a Physician Associate to join our Surgical Services team. 


*Compensation range: $180,000 - $210,000

*Schedule: Fulltime - 4 10-hour shifts with call rotation.

Physician Associate - Surgery Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Conduct preoperative patient assessments to ensure readiness for surgery.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and condition during surgery.
  • Perform wound closures, including suturing and applying dressings.
  • Provide postoperative care, including monitoring for complications and changing dressings.
  • Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, risks, and postoperative care.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in clinical rounds and patient consultations.
  • Document patient interactions and clinical procedures accurately in medical records.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patient care plans.

  Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as a surgical Physician Associate.
  • Master's degree in Physician Associate Studies or relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and operating room protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • National Certification.
  • Active ACLS and BLS certifications.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Current and unrestricted state licensure as a Physician Associate.
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Associate program.
  • Strong clinical and technical skills relevant to surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and patient education.
