Position Statement
The Emergency Department physician provides high quality, timely, and compassionate care to all patients presenting with acute medical conditions. Their role is critical to North Country Hospital as the first point of contract for individuals in need of emergent care. The ED physician reports directly to the Medical Director for the department with administrative reporting to the VP of Patient Care Services.

The Emergency Department is staffed by physicians only, with three (3) shifts daily: a 7a-7p shift, 10a-9p shift and 7p-7a shift. The nursing staff is required to have BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC and ENPC certifications. North Country is a 25-bed designated Critical Access hospital with approximately 16,000 patient visits annually. Medical staff includes (3) General Surgeons, (1) Orthopedic Surgeon, a full-time Hospitalist program with OB/Gyn and pediatrics on-call.
