Bon Secours Colonial Heights Family Medicine Hiring an NP or PA!
Responsibilities:
- Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of medical processes and procedures commensurate with training and experience
- Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, to include initiation of CPR or other appropriate emergency therapy as needed.
- Formulates diagnoses, identifies problems and health risk profiles, documents, and clearly communicates with other members of the healthcare team.
- Performs, orders, and interprets diagnostic studies, such as X-rays and laboratory tests. Consults with peers and colleagues as appropriate.
- Orders medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia prescriptive regulations.
- Requests consultation and initiates referrals to other healthcare providers, including specialists, when and if needed.
- Evaluates and analyzes patient responses to the disease process and/or therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.
- Provides information, education, and support to patients/families regarding disease processes and treatment plans (diagnostic procedures, medications, and treatments), thus facilitating communication between patients/families and the healthcare team.
- Responding to patient calls and MyChart messages.
- Ensuring patient referrals for procedures and to other subspecialties are completed
- Participates in on-call responsibilities as appropriate and as determined by department or unit.
- Professional development and growth opportunities that enhance professional practice through formal and informal activities, including developing and presenting educational programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned that are commensurate with professional service normally and customarily provided by a licensed independent provider.
Qualifications:
- Qualified NP or PA, new grads welcome to apply
- BLS certified
- Provider may offer only if appropriately trained, joint injections, suture placement and cryotherapy; otherwise not expected.

Family Medicine of Colonial Heights is a family practice seeing patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric. We're located in the Tri-Cities area 25 minutes south of Richmond, which includes Colonial Heights, Petersburg and Hopewell. Our practice is easily accessible, just 5 minutes from I-95 and I-295. Southside Medical Center Hospital is within 15 minutes.
We have 2 MD's and 2 Nurse Practitioners in the practice, in addition to our wonderful support team and patient service representatives.
Family Medicine of Colonial Heights has been providing care to patients in the same location for more than 10 years, formerly part of Southside Physicians Network, before coming under the Bon Secours Mercy Health umbrella in 2020.
