Medical Oncologist - Inpatient Consults Only (Oncology Hospitalist)

Position Overview

The Inpatient Medical Oncologist (Oncologist Hospitalist) provides comprehensive inpatient care for adult patients with cancer, collaborating closely with outpatient/primary oncologists, advanced practice providers, nursing/support staff, and other specialists. This role involves overseeing and managing the acute medical care of hospitalized cancer patients, including those undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy and clinical trials. The position requires handling complex medical conditions, coordinating multi-disciplinary care, and supporting the transition of patients from hospital to outpatient care.

Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O.
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Medical Oncology.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Ohio.
  • Strong clinical expertise in oncology diagnosis and management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, high-quality inpatient care.

We are seeking a Board-Certified Medical Oncologist to join our esteemed team. This role focuses exclusively on inpatient consults (100% - no outpatient duties), ensuring timely, expert oncologic care to hospitalized patients. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, working alongside leading oncologists, surgeons, and specialists. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient oncology consultations, guiding diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncology, radiology, pathology, and surgery.
  • Evaluate and manage complex oncologic cases, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centered care.
  • Act as a resource for hospital staff and trainees, sharing expertise in oncologic management.
  • Contribute to the advancement of clinical protocols and patient care strategies.
