Opportunity to Serve Veterans – Vascular Neurologist Physician Role at James A. Haley Veterans' Affairs Hospital

Job Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Vascular Neurologist with specialized training or clinical experience in acute stroke management and vascular neurology to join our dynamic Neurology Service at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center. This is an exciting opportunity to serve the nation’s Veterans while working within a supportive, multidisciplinary team in a state-of-the-art facility.

Practice Highlights: The Neurology Department at James A. Haley is a dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing high-quality stroke care through a Primary Stroke Center. The department collaborates closely with Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Services to deliver evidence-based acute stroke management. The team actively participates in research initiatives and quality improvement programs aimed at optimizing stroke care outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities include, but is not limited to:

· Independently manage acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke cases, including eligibility assessment for thrombolytic and endovascular therapy.

· Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary stroke team, ensuring optimal stroke care delivery.

· Support and lead strike quality improvement initiatives, such as reducing door-to-needle times and enhancing telestroke workflows.

· Interpret advanced neuroimaging modalities related to stroke diagnosis and treatment.

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of Joint Commission or DNV stroke certification.

· Engage in the education and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students.

· Participate in stroke-related clinical research, quality registries, and scholarly activities.

· Serve in leadership roles within the department, supporting program development and accreditation efforts.

Preferred Experience:

Board Certification in Neurology with fellowship training in Vascular Neurology or equivalent vascular neurology subspecialty experience.

• Minimum of 2–5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience managing acute stroke cases in a high-volume, comprehensive or primary stroke center.

Salary Range: $350,000 - $375,000
