The Section of Pediatric Anesthesiology provides care to more than 23,000 children annually in perioperative anesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine settings.

Children’s and its joint venture with the Medical College of Wisconsin – the Children’s Specialty Group, or CSG - are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state, serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their American College of Surgeons Level I Children’s Surgery Verification Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, 72-bed Level IV NICU, Level IV Epilepsy Center, and a 72-bed PICU. In 2022- 2023, CW and CSG had eight specialties ranked by US News & World Report: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology, and urology.
With over 70 specialties and 700 providers, CSG has an annual net patient revenue of ~$200 million. Last year, CSG providers had 688,375 specialty care visits. The hospital has a Pediatric Dialysis Unit dedicated solely to the care of pediatric patients with end-stage renal failure. A full range of acute dialysis services are provided in the PICU and NICU areas. The Kidney Transplant program has been active since 1986 and is CMS and UNOS accredited.
The Children’s Wisconsin Research Institute (CRI) represents the most powerful concentration of pediatric research in the region, including more than 1,000 active clinical trials and over $68.6 million in active Federal grants. CRI advances pediatric medical research for children in Wisconsin and beyond. Focusing on translational research, The CRI takes discoveries from the laboratory and converts them to new therapies at patients' bedsides.
Children’s Wisconsin provides primary care, specialty care, urgent care, emergency care, community health services, foster and adoption services, child and family counseling, child advocacy services and family resource centers. Children’s has invested more than $130 million in the community to improve the health status of children through medical care, advocacy, education, and pediatric medical research.
