Gastroenterologist at Veterans Health Administration (VHA)

Location: VA Redding Clinic, Redding, CA

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview: The VA Northern California Health Care System is seeking a dedicated Gastroenterologist to join our team at the VA Redding Clinic. This position offers a unique opportunity to serve our nation's veterans by providing high-quality, comprehensive gastroenterological care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat a variety of gastrointestinal disorders in our veteran patient population.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including endoscopies, colonoscopies, and advanced endoscopic procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes primary care providers, specialists, nurses, and support staff to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding health maintenance and disease prevention.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the advancement of gastroenterology services within the VA system.
  • Supervise and mentor residents, fellows, and other trainees as part of our commitment to academic excellence.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Possession of a current, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Proven experience in both outpatient and inpatient gastroenterological care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
