Job Description

Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, is seeking a dedicated Hematologist Oncologist to join our esteemed team. This is a full-time position focused on providing top-quality care to our Veteran patients in a supportive and well-equipped environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The John D. Dingell VAMC has an active hematology/oncology section currently staffed with three hematologist/oncologist and is a tertiary care (1c) facility located in Detroit Michigan. Our Facility is a major academic affiliate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. In addition, we participate in a joint hematology/oncology fellowship program with the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Provide care for patients with malignant and benign hematological disorders and patients with oncological disorders in both the outpatient and inpatient setting
  • Experience in performing bone marrow aspirates and biopsies is required
  • The physician will be expected to teach fellows, residents, medical students and provide education for other attending staff
  • Active participation in selected multi-disciplinary committees related to cancer care is required

Work Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM
  • Evening, weekend and call is shared equally among the section

About Our Facility:

The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center is a key member of the Detroit Medical Center complex, affiliated with the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens are not available.
  • Possession of 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
  • Strong communication and collegial interaction skills.
  • Dedication to patient-centered care and corporate citizenship.
