The Department of Veterans Affairs Saginaw MI Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Physician to provide exceptional medical care to our nation’s Veterans. This role is a Mon-Fri, no call and no weekends role, with a salary range of 210k-300k and Education Debt Reduction up to 200k for qualified applicants!
Position Title: Primary Care Physician
Location: Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Saginaw MI
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient primary care medical services to an assigned panel of adult Veterans. This may occasionally include inpatient or urgent care as required.
- Deliver comprehensive primary health care, focusing on preventive medicine to veteran populations, particularly those suffering from diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD, and mental health disorders. Women’s health care is also a priority.
- Participate in Pain Management, Mental Health, and End of Life Care programs.
- Adhere to clinical practice guidelines and performance measures mandated by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
Communication:
- Collaborate with the Assistant Associate Chief of Primary Care, the Associate Chief of Primary Care, and/or the Chief of Staff to achieve VAMC goals and objectives.
- Ensure continuity of care by effectively communicating with other healthcare providers.
Education/Training:
- Engage in the training and education of personnel.
- Complete required VA education and annual training in a timely manner.
- Maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits as required by state law.
Quality Assessment/Utilization Review/Performance Improvement:
- Participate in QA/UR/PI activities.
- Cooperate with Risk Management activities as required by the service chief.
Recruitment:
- Evaluate potential candidates for physician, NP, and PA positions.
- Assist in the orientation of new practitioners.

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP):
- This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
- You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
- Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship or qualified non-citizens.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Subject to urinalysis, background/security investigation, and pre-employment physical examination.
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited school.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license.
- Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
- Residency Training: Approved by ACGME or AOA, or equivalent verification for foreign graduates.
Physical and Emotional Demands:
- Capability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
- Manage emotional demands of patient interactions and critical illness observations.
- Visual requirements include reading, distinguishing colors, visual inspections, and depth perception.
