Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for Nurse Practitioners to lead and develop a team of health care professionals in our newly renovated facility at 205 Hollow Tree Lane, Spring, TX.

Starting Salary $140,000 - $160,000 DOE

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient medical care including diagnosing, treating and managing acute and chronic medical conditions. You will play a crucial leadership role in ensuring the delivery and diagnosis of high-quality patient care, managing nursing staff, and maintaining compliance with medical and security protocols. You will also provide guidance, support, and oversight for nursing personnel while coordinating with security staff and other healthcare providers in a secure environment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists as required and adjust treatment processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Monitor medical condition of patients and report and document changes appropriate to scope of practice.
  2. Perform CPR when necessary.
  3. Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays
  4. Perform daily information rounds and prepare notes.
  5. Responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care while addressing operational needs, staffing adjustments, while adhering to security protocols.
  6. Act as a liaison between nursing staff, security staff, administration, and external healthcare providers.
  7. Requires proactive communication with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate efficient, high-quality patient care and achieve desired treatment outcomes.
  8. Ensure EMR compliance through maintaining accurate and comprehensive documentation and charting according to state regulations.
  9. Respond to medical emergencies, coordinate critical care efforts, and ensure timely interventions.
  10. Confer with the designated charge nurse and staff frequently and serves as a resource for them.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and risk management strategies.
  12. Serves in rotation with other medical staff to provide after-hours and weekend inmate care, to include accepting on-call rotation.
  13. Comply with requirement of applicable regulations, especially those covering controlled substances.
  14. Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.
  15. Maintain equipment and supplies.
  16. Maintain strict security measures, ensuring compliance with facility policies on contraband control, patient interactions, and restricted areas.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required. Required certification and licensure as follows: current APRN in the state of Texas, Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Two to five years’ experience is recommended, preferably in the correctional or emergency medicine environment. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements, maintain licensing and certifications, and pass an annual background check.
