Job Description

The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Vascular Surgeon to join our expanding surgical team in beautiful Cape Coral, Florida. This is a full-time position providing high-quality, compassionate care to our nation's Veterans in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

As a Vascular Surgeon, you will report to the Vascular Surgery Section Chief and be responsible for the full spectrum of vascular care, including:

  • Performing open, minimally invasive, and endovascular procedures.

  • Providing consultation and surgical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Supervising and educating surgical residents and students during clinical care and procedures.

  • Managing pre- and post-operative care, including discharge planning and interdisciplinary coordination.

  • Conducting patient evaluations via face-to-face, phone, Telehealth, and electronic consultations (e.g., MyHealtheVet, e-consults).

  • Completing all patient documentation, notes, and coding in compliance with VA policies and standards.

  • Participating in team meetings, peer reviews, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in both open and endovascular surgical techniques.

  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring residents and students.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Prior experience in a VA or academic health system preferred.

Work Schedule

Full-Time | Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. | On-call responsibilities may be required.

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan reimbursement program for qualified applicants.

  • Award Amount: Up to $200,000

  • Eligibility Period: One to five years

  • Application Deadline: Must apply within four months of appointment

  • Note: Former EDRP participants are not eligible to reapply
    Final determination of award and eligibility is made by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office.
