Job Description Summary
Qualifications
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
- Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR (2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences
Responsibilities
- Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents and medical students in the specialties of Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine
- This physician is responsible for providing consultation on various forms of infectious diseases, both for diagnosis and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings
- Also, assist in meeting goals for consult completion
- Participation in appropriate subspecialty committees as needed by the facility including but not limited to Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT)
- Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP)
- Assist in meeting goals for outpatient clinic including telehealth with VVC appointments and face to face
- This includes meeting facility goals for minimum days required to see new patient and maintaining facility expectations for outpatient workload and bookable hours
- Must work closely with clinical pharmacist
- The physician is expected to share attending call responsibilities with other Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine specialists in covering some nights, weekend and holiday calls as needed
- The physician will round with the team of fellow(s), resident(s), and medical student(s) as regards to inpatient settings
- The physician will also be expected to lead and manage the Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine team consisting of fellows, residents, medical students, Pharmacists, Mid-Level Providers, etc
- while on inpatient service or in clinical setting
- Clinical oversight is provided by the collaborating physician, Section Chief, Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease
- The physician, as a member of the department, communicates with other health care providers to manage consults and additional services as required
- This physician's primary collaborating and supervising physician will be the Section Chief, Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease
- In the absence of the primary collaborating physician, an appointed staff physician will serve as the alternate collaborating physician
- Administrative activities, including performance improvement activities, research, and non-clinical tasks as assigned
- Exhibits leadership in initializing changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research and studies
- Stays informed on developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illness through continuing medical education
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervising physician or his/her designee as it relates to scope of practice
