The Iowa City, Iowa Veterans Affairs Health Care System, is seeking a Hospice & Palliative Medical Director at the Rehabilitation and Extended Care Service Line.

As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model which seeks to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran. This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community.
You will be a clinical leader in the care of Veterans with serious illnesses and work with the palliative care team to provide evidence-based, transdisciplinary care.
Collaborate with health care teams, including nursing, social work, rehab therapies, and providers working on inpatient units, and in primary and specialty clinics.
Serve as a mentor and supervisor for the providers on the team.
Collaborate with other team members to develop & implement an integrated symptom management approach that maximizes the utilization of complementary & integrative health therapies to improve the quality of life & patient functioning.
Provide care via multiple modalities, including face-to-face, VA Video Connect along with Clinical Video Telehealth to maximize Veteran-centric care.
Provide e-consultation to providers related to serious health-related suffering, hospice appropriateness, and goals of care.
Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care is required. Fellowship trained with 5 years' experience as a practicing Hospice and Palliative Care physician preferred.
