Job Description

Seeking a Gastroenterologist in Texas (Academics)

TTUHSC El Paso - Transmountain and Tenet Healthcare have collaborated on the development of a new set of clinical and educational programs, designed to educate medical students, nursing students and resident physicians, to include an Internal Medicine residency program. The facilities are designed to serve the healthcare needs of El Paso and Southern New Mexico, while also providing a world-class training site for up to 100 medical residents across a multi-year program.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have a passion for ambulatory care and teaching
  • Desire to be part of a stimulating academic environment
    • Have a strong interest in professional development
    • Teaching, both didactic and clinical
    • Quality improvement
    • Conducting scholarly projects

Major/Essential Functions

  • Provides consultations and clinical services in outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Maintains all applicable licenses, controlled substance registrations, board certifications, hospital privileges, and third-party payer enrollments in good standing
  • Supervises residents and participates in teaching activities for medical students and/or residents
  • Participates in research and/or scholarly activities in the department
  • Participates in committees and other administrative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D. / D.O.
  • Licensed in Texas or eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Texas
  • Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program
  • Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship Program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or Higher
