Job Description

Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Neurosurgery team in San Francisco, California. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a nationally recognized group of neurosurgeons and advanced practice clinicians providing comprehensive, patient-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

 

 

About the Opportunity:

 

As part of a leading neuroscience program, you’ll support patients through all phases of care — from clinic visits and telehealth consultations to pre- and post-operative management. The position will primarily focus on outpatient care, with opportunities for inpatient exposure to promote a well-rounded clinical experience and growth in neurosurgical practice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide patient care in the ambulatory setting, including new and follow-up appointments

· Conduct telehealth visits through the Epic platform

· Manage inbox messages for the neurosurgery department and assist with triage of referrals

· Communicate effectively with inpatient teams to ensure continuity of care

· Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies in accordance with physician care plans

· Coordinate multidisciplinary care and provide patient/family education

· Maintain accountability for clinical quality, safety, and experience goals

· Collaborate directly with neurosurgeons and advanced practice colleagues

Requirements

Education:

· Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) program

 

Licensure & Certifications:

· Current California PA or NP license

· DEA Controlled Substance Registration (CSRC)

· Current BLS certification

· Other certifications as required by department

 

Experience:

· Surgical or neurosurgery experience strongly preferred

· Candidates with a passion for surgical care and interest in neuroscience are encouraged to apply

Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is a premier multi-specialty medical group made up of over 200 physicians practicing in the greater San Francisco service area. SWBMG works in partnership with Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation (SPMF), a non-profit organization providing care through its affiliation with SWBMG. Physicians work as a team to provide patient-focused care that encourages a sense of teamwork.
