Job Description
Endocrinologist
Reports to: Executive Committee
Classification:Exempt

Position Description
The endocrinologist will work in the D.G.D Clinic, PA., meeting with patients, tests them for such conditions as thyroid disease, diabetes, and hormonal imbalances, and assigns the proper course of treatment.
Duties Include:
Inquiries about current symptoms and reasons for doctor s visit.
Conducts exams and tests to determine likelihood of endocrine gland related issues.
Analyzes lab results and presentation of symptoms to arrive at conclusive diagnosis.
Devises and assigns proper course of treatment.
Advises surgery when necessary.
Works with other specialized physicians to treat and cure certain conditions, such as glandular tumors.
Writes and renews prescriptions for medications.
Logs all patient visits and medical information and maintains patient records.
Follows up with patient to track condition.
Provides advice for patients regarding the daily management of their diseases or conditions.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possesses specific knowledge of all areas of endocrinology.
Demonstrates ability to detect and diagnose thyroid conditions, hormonal causes for infertility, diabetes, tumors, and other gland-related diseases.
Exhibits professional but friendly bedside manner.
Pays close attention to detail.
Exhibits excellent analytical skills.
Works well with a team of other physicians and Clinic staff.
Communicates clearly and effectively.
Is able to explain medical conditions to patients in clear and straightforward terms without medical jargon.
Education and Experience:
M.D. with focus in Endocrinology is required.
Work Environment:
Limited lifting required
Constant standing, walking, and other moderate physical activity required on an ongoing basis.
Environment may be high stress and fast-paced.
The Diabetes and Glandular Disease Clinic provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
HIPAA Privacy Training and Sanctions
All employees who have access to health information whose confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required by the Rule to receive training so that they have an understanding and knowledge of the Privacy Rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities and of the group health plan s policies and procedures that impact on their job duties. Training on the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the plan s health information policies and procedures under the direction of the plan privacy officer is a prerequisite for this position.
Employees who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.
