Responsible for evaluating and treating pulmonary conditions on an inpatient and outpatient basis;
Provides direct care to hospitalized patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and the performance of medical procedures (within the scope of practice as a Pulmonologist);
Conducts daily hospital rounds on all patients referred to the service and provides on-call coverage
Examines patients, obtains medical histories, performs and interprets diagnostic tests, and documents all services in patient’s medical record;
Coordinates with hospital medical practitioners, departments, and administration to ensure high quality and effective patient care;
Communicates, consults, and collaborates with all physicians, the interdisciplinary team, and other healthcare personnel reviewing patients’ progress and variances, and ensures a timely hospital discharge;
Converses daily with families, referring physicians, other specialists, administration, and hospital departments in the care and treatment of patients referred to the service;
Provides distinctive, personalized care and services by listening, anticipating, and responding to the needs of internal staff and referring physicians/specialists;
Exceeds patient expectations by providing empathetic bedside manners;
Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and their families;
Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate, and complete, and compliant with office, hospital, and government entities;
Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding, and CPT code assignment;
Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with hospital departments and hospital administration, promoting teamwork and camaraderie;
Acts in a positive and professional manner, complying with hospital policies, procedures, and federal and state laws.
